Live at Modernark Pharm Café, Kobe
Music for shakuhachiu, er-hu, yanqin, piano, voice & percussion.
A reunion concert as Adrian last performed with Ema and Esoh in 1997, more than 20 years ago.
Founder members of the Japanese group Yurai, Ema and Esoh weave voices with various spiritual traditional instruments of indigenous peoples, as well as original instruments made of natural materials such as stone and wood. Ema is known as the ‘Rainbow Voice’. She sings and plays the Er-hu (Chinese two-stringed fiddle). Esoh plays the chinese hammer dulcimer as well as piano, percussion and overtone singing.
The bow sings. The piano melts into all the other sounds. These ethnic musical instruments and their rhythms have a long and rich journey behind them. In its creation the music is elemental, but once it is released, the possibilities become infinite.
